Addilyn 18 months

How did my baby girl get to be a year and half old? If time goes this quickly with baby #2 I had really better pay attention to #3 or I think I will miss it all together.

Addilyn seems more "baby" to me than Eliana did at this age. I don't know if it is because she doesn't talk quite as much or if it is that I have a big kid to compare her to. She is a ham and will do what she can to make anyone laugh, she cracks herself up all the time. She loves to put on clothes, the other day she was wearing her outfit, a pair of Elies short and t-shirt, and 3 pair of my underwear. She can also undress herself, which is trouble. Shoes are always a hit and so are baby dolls. The child eats no meat of any type but would live on diary, fruit and carbs. She sleeps at least 12 hrs at night and takes a nap for almost 2. She has a fair amount of words and signs. If told "no" or has an object taken away she will lay on the floor, cover her face and throw a fit. She is spontaneously affectionate, coming up to give hugs and kisses for no reason. Addilyn doesn't like to be wet or dirty and will tell you, I am wondering if she may potty train early like her big sis. She is terrified of loud noises and thunder.

I have enjoyed my littlest blessing so far, she is different from her sister and so much her own little person. I am so grateful that God chose Matt and I to be her parents.

Working on my Domestic Goddess Badge

I looked at the to-do list I made last week and am happy to say I can cross off almost everything on it. It only took me 2 weeks. I think I either need smaller lists or more time. Here is what I have been up to: -I have made 2 loaves of banana oat bread, 1 batch of blackberry strawberry freezer jam, 1 loaf of gluten free bread. -From 12 juiced grapefruit I made grapefruit curd and a pan of grapefruit bars. -My garden is almost completely done, including a upgrade in size. I am growing tomatoes, onions, peppers, potatoes , cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower , herbs, lettuce, spinach , green beans, snap peas, cucumbers, and kohlrabi. -I hung herbs to dry -I have folded massive amounts of laundry...with more yet to do. All washed with my homemade laundry soap. -I recovered the "green monster" which is another post entirely. -I added a sitting area in my bedroom, where I am currently sitting, so that my laptop has a home other than the kitchen table. - I got a new dining room table a...

Blogging

So I have lost the love of blogging. I have always believed it is a narcissistic pass time, yet enjoy it anyway. I have found I easily spend entirely too much time tied to my computer. By the time I check Facebook , e-mail, friends blogs, etc I can easily waste an hour, if not two, of time. A friend of mine just blogged about the same thing. Yes, I get the irony of a blog post about not blog posting, but alas, here it is: I just read a good friends blog about my blog. A great leader here in Boulder, Kevin Colon wrote this: “Hugh moved to Denver to do a training deal for an organization and he ended up starting a church. His blogging is not incredibly frequent but when he does blog….it’s good!” Now, while I’m humbled that a man like Kevin would even want to read my blog, I figured it was a good time to state once and for all why I only post once or twice a month. Simply this……..”I prefer to spend my time with people.” I’ ve always wondered how people have time to read blogs, let alo...

Thrifty

I love a good deal. Craigslist and Good Will are my favorite kind of shopping. This may be due to dressing a family of 4 on a budget, but, when it comes right down to it, I blame my mother. She is the queen of cheep shopping, after all, she had to dress a family of 5! I think of it this way: I am currently bringing in very little money. Funny how moms work really hard but don't make much. Since I am not bringing in the big bucks, the only way I can contribute to the budget is by making it stretch. So I do a lot of my own baking. I bought a clothes line, it keeps the house cooler by not running the dryer and saves money too. I shop sales. Most of all, I love to shop Goodwill, garage sales, Freecycle and Craigslist. My Current good deals: 1-Single bike trailer for Matt and Amanda, Burley-$10 Goodwill 2- Wooden table and chair for Elie's room-$6 Goodwill 3- Loving Family Doll house-$5 Garage Sale 4- 20 outfits for Elie and Addie-$5 Garage Sale 5- Train Table- Free Freecycle Some m...
