Baby's gettin' big

I can't believe that Addilyn is 9 months old. It seems like just yesterday that she joined our family. Here is her 9 month update:

  • Addilyn is a peanut, not yet 15 lbs. Elie was 17 at a year, we will see if Addie is even that big.

  • She is on the move! Addilyn crawls in a weird half army crawl half normal crawl sort of thing because of the hardwood, I'm assuming. She is scary fast. She pulls up to her knees on everything she can reach, which isn't much because she is tiny.

  • Addilyn says more, mama, papa, and hi. She signs nurse, more, all done, and drink. Elie is always telling me what she believes Addilyn is saying. Addilyn also claps and dances.

  • We FINALLY have teeth! Yes, she grew two. We were wondering because she hasn't been sleeping great for a few days, but she is never a wonderful sleeper, so it was hard to tell.

  • Addilyn's favorite toys have 4 legs and fur. If she crawls over and they walk away, she is heart broken. Lucky for her, they are very tolerant.

Halloween was fun. We had a party on Wends. at Kits for all they playgroup kids. I got together with some of my former students and their mama's on Thursday for another party and we went trick-or-treating with the Honeycutts and Osness' on Friday. Every day since Elie has asked if we can go trick-or-treating.

Elie woke up this morning with a lousy cold and pronounced that she was "very sick". Now I am sure Addilyn will get it. It is beginning to look like I may never again enjoy a full nights sleep. Elie is SUCH a whiner when she doesn't feel good, she gets that from Matt!

This week we will be getting new windows in our house. I am so excited. Maybe now addilyns curtains won't move on windy days even when her window is shut. We made a great deal with Matt Osness, God has blessed us with a great brother in law!

Thursday Elie's friends are coming over for a birthday celebration and play date. Elie is all into Curious George and chose a monkey cake. I will be sure to take pictures.

I can't believe she is 9 months and Elie is almost 3!!!!!!!!!!! Time flies!!!!!!!!1 And wow Addilyn is communicating so much!!! Pierce JUST started saying Mama and he signs more and milk. I haven't really had a rhyme & reason this time w/ the signing - I just do it all the time. He's probably overwhelmed and confused. I should go back to my OCD roots. Miss y'all! Hugs all around. Get well soon!!! & Happy sleeping!!!
That is a great picture. :) Looks like fun!

Working on my Domestic Goddess Badge

I looked at the to-do list I made last week and am happy to say I can cross off almost everything on it. It only took me 2 weeks. I think I either need smaller lists or more time. Here is what I have been up to: -I have made 2 loaves of banana oat bread, 1 batch of blackberry strawberry freezer jam, 1 loaf of gluten free bread. -From 12 juiced grapefruit I made grapefruit curd and a pan of grapefruit bars. -My garden is almost completely done, including a upgrade in size. I am growing tomatoes, onions, peppers, potatoes , cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower , herbs, lettuce, spinach , green beans, snap peas, cucumbers, and kohlrabi. -I hung herbs to dry -I have folded massive amounts of laundry...with more yet to do. All washed with my homemade laundry soap. -I recovered the "green monster" which is another post entirely. -I added a sitting area in my bedroom, where I am currently sitting, so that my laptop has a home other than the kitchen table. - I got a new dining room table a...

Happy Birthday Addilyn Joy!

Addilyn, Happy birthday, big girl! I love your laugh, your zest for life, your need to move. I love that you want to be a donut on Halloween and have a rainbow birthday party, your drummer has a beat all it's own and I can't wait to see where it leads you as you grow. Your eyes have a sparkle, both joyous and mischievous. You keep me on my toes, are always ready to snuggle or get in a tickle fight. You have an uncanny ability to trash clothing, spill milk, run into objects and make everyone in a room smile. With a dialect all your own, you love to chat as you help me in the kitchen or follow me as I straighten up. Content to play quietly by yourself or follow Eliana's lead in a game of pretend, you do such a good job watching out for your little sister. I am so pleased with the little girl you are becoming, God is going to do such cool things with your life. I count my blessings for every day I get to spend as your mommy, watching your zest and spice for life reminds me to ...

The Counter

Matt meets a lot of interesting people in his line of work. Most recently he spent some time in LA with Andy Lichit, producer of "Water World" and "Cable Guy". Apparently, Andy is not only into movies, but food too. He has a restaurant in Park Meadows area called "The Counter". He called the manager here and told him that Matt and I would be coming in and to comp our dinner. So we called our favorite baby sitter (Thanks FAITH!) and went for a great meal sans kiddo's. The Counter is an up-scale design your own burger joint. We ate some fabulous burgers and enjoyed some grown up conversation. Not a bad way to end a weekend.
