Goodbye 2008

So usually I send out a Crocker's Top 10 list with a Christmas picture. Alas, this year I was lazy, so here is the list.

10. Addilyn Joy Crocker entered our family in January and the whole lot of us have gotten considerably less sleep, but we kept her anyway.

9. Matt traveled...a lot. He has been all over the country, gone for at least one week, usually more, a month. Sony is bound and determined to get there money's worth.

8. Gretchen went to Roanoke to surprise her friend Jenny. Had a wonderful few days, despite the fact her bag didn't ever show up.

7. Elie and Addie have become such great friends. Addie calls for Elie and they play together so nicely. I pray they remain this close for years to come.

6.We spent a ton of time with our friends. Between weekly play group get togethers, girls/guys night outs and every other weekend BBQ's we really enjoyed the fellowship.

5. Disney! Elie had her first experience and was...confused? Not really, it just will be a lot more fun when she is a little older. We sure had fun with the family in CA though!

4. We got a bike trailer and had many a family adventure. We had to wait a bit for Addie to be big enough, but then there was no stopping us!

3. Gretchen joined a gym. No one was more surprised than she was to find that exercise isn't so bad after all. Well, not all exercise, just yoga.

2. Matt ended up in jail. It's a long story that he didn't find funny for quite some time. He has since come around. It really wasn't a big deal, but it sure felt like it at the time!

1.We had a wonderful Christmas season full of family and friends. God has really blessed us this year and we are thankful in so many ways!
Here is a picture of our family at "Zoo Lights", an anual traditions for us.

Ok Gretchen, You always make me laugh out loud. I LOVE the list...good stuff! I am, however, completely curious about the jail situation. That sounds pretty funny actually...Happy New Year!

I love that the jail story made your list! Glad Matt is starting to see the humor in the situation! :)

Working on my Domestic Goddess Badge

I looked at the to-do list I made last week and am happy to say I can cross off almost everything on it. It only took me 2 weeks. I think I either need smaller lists or more time. Here is what I have been up to: -I have made 2 loaves of banana oat bread, 1 batch of blackberry strawberry freezer jam, 1 loaf of gluten free bread. -From 12 juiced grapefruit I made grapefruit curd and a pan of grapefruit bars. -My garden is almost completely done, including a upgrade in size. I am growing tomatoes, onions, peppers, potatoes , cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower , herbs, lettuce, spinach , green beans, snap peas, cucumbers, and kohlrabi. -I hung herbs to dry -I have folded massive amounts of laundry...with more yet to do. All washed with my homemade laundry soap. -I recovered the "green monster" which is another post entirely. -I added a sitting area in my bedroom, where I am currently sitting, so that my laptop has a home other than the kitchen table. - I got a new dining room table a...

Blogging

So I have lost the love of blogging. I have always believed it is a narcissistic pass time, yet enjoy it anyway. I have found I easily spend entirely too much time tied to my computer. By the time I check Facebook , e-mail, friends blogs, etc I can easily waste an hour, if not two, of time. A friend of mine just blogged about the same thing. Yes, I get the irony of a blog post about not blog posting, but alas, here it is: I just read a good friends blog about my blog. A great leader here in Boulder, Kevin Colon wrote this: “Hugh moved to Denver to do a training deal for an organization and he ended up starting a church. His blogging is not incredibly frequent but when he does blog….it’s good!” Now, while I’m humbled that a man like Kevin would even want to read my blog, I figured it was a good time to state once and for all why I only post once or twice a month. Simply this……..”I prefer to spend my time with people.” I’ ve always wondered how people have time to read blogs, let alo...

Thrifty

I love a good deal. Craigslist and Good Will are my favorite kind of shopping. This may be due to dressing a family of 4 on a budget, but, when it comes right down to it, I blame my mother. She is the queen of cheep shopping, after all, she had to dress a family of 5! I think of it this way: I am currently bringing in very little money. Funny how moms work really hard but don't make much. Since I am not bringing in the big bucks, the only way I can contribute to the budget is by making it stretch. So I do a lot of my own baking. I bought a clothes line, it keeps the house cooler by not running the dryer and saves money too. I shop sales. Most of all, I love to shop Goodwill, garage sales, Freecycle and Craigslist. My Current good deals: 1-Single bike trailer for Matt and Amanda, Burley-$10 Goodwill 2- Wooden table and chair for Elie's room-$6 Goodwill 3- Loving Family Doll house-$5 Garage Sale 4- 20 outfits for Elie and Addie-$5 Garage Sale 5- Train Table- Free Freecycle Some m...
